A PARTNERSHIP to promote safer betting amongst Saints fans has been announced this Safer Gambling Week.
Better Change, an organisation dedicated to delivering long-lasting player protection strategies and gambling safeguarding, has teamed up with Southampton Football Club.
The season-long agreement kicked off at the home Premier League fixture against West Ham on Sunday.
The Better Change team spent match day talking to Saints fans and staff about their relationship with gambling and offering both face-to-face and virtual therapy sessions for fans who might want to discuss the matter privately, as well as signposting to other organisations and help available.
Safer gambling resources will also be available via Saints in the community.
Partnerships and Marketing Director at Southampton Football Club, Sarah Batters, said: “We recognise that betting can form a fun and important part of a fan’s experience, and so the club takes its responsibility to promote safe betting extremely seriously.”
With over 75% of audiences betting on games, the partnership aims to protect fans from gambling harm and addiction.
