Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been given a surprise recall by Gareth Southgate for the pre-Euro 2024 England friendlies against Brazil and Belgium – as reported by Telegraph Sport.

There are also first call-ups for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite and Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. Jordan Henderson, now back in Europe with Ajax after his Saudi misadventure, is also named in the squad. However, Southgate has left out Kalvin Phillips, who attempted to keep his Euro 2024 hopes alive with a loan move to West Ham that has not yet seen him become a regular at the club.

Joe Gomez, who can play at right-back and as centre-back, is back in the squad for the first time in four years, as reported by Telegraph Sport. Ben Chilwell has been judged fit enough to be included. 

Gareth Southgate said that FA sporting director John McDermott was called last week by Arsenal counterpart Edu to be told Ben White did not want to be selected for England.
