KULAI: Four local men were arrested for illegal gambling during Ops Dadu (Bola Golek) on Wednesday (Oct 5) at 8.30pm.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the suspects, aged between 28 and 59, were detained by policemen from the Senai police station at the Desa Idaman industrial area.
“The organiser of the illegal gambling had just opened for business for about an hour when our men raided the place,’’ he said in a statement Thursday (Oct 6).
Supt Tok said the modus operandi of the organiser was to move from one place to another in the Senai area to avoid being detected by the police.
He said police received a tip-off from the public on the illegal gambling activities which have been going on in the industrial area.
“We have seized gambling paraphernalia from the premises, as well as RM475 cash,’’ said Supt Tok, adding the items have been brought to the Kulai district police headquarters for further action.
He said all suspects have been remanded from Thursday until Friday (Oct 7) to assist investigations.
Supt Tok said the case is being investigated under Section 7(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
