(CNN)– Gambling is paying off in a big way in the United States.
The American Gaming Association says people spent a record 66-and-a-half-billion-dollars on commercial gaming last year.
That is $6 billion higher than in 2022 and it includes money spent at casinos, sports betting and online gaming sites.
The Gaming Association says the industry’s revenue is helping the economy.
The money spent generated more than $14 billion for state and local taxes.
That also was a record amount last year and was up nearly 10% from 2022.
