Agartala: A meat seller was allegedly lynched on Friday night after an argument broke out among gamblers at GB Market in the Agartala Government Medical College area. No arrests were made so far in the incident, the police confirmed.
The victim has been identified as Shyamal Das (48), a meat seller who was living in the Vivekananda Housing Complex near the GB Market. Shyamal Das was beaten to death in front of a police officer, who was at the venue of the gambling when the dispute broke out, sources told the Times of India (TOI).
It was inside a shop that sold snacks that the gamblers had assembled. The police constable at the spot was accused of making no efforts to save the victim, the news report added.

In another incident, a man was lynched by a mob after they suspected him of being a child-lifter. The incident took place in the Dhemaji district of Assam. The victim who is said to be in his 30s was mentally unstable.
