Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy says he's QUIT gambling after Bills loss

Every gambler has their limit, and Dave Portnoy says he’s reached his.

The Barstool Sports founder and obsessed bettor announced in a social media tirade that he has quit gambling following the Buffalo Bills‘ overtime loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

‘I quit gambling,’ Portnoy wrote on X. ‘F*** Buffalo.’

It’s unclear how much he actually wagered, but he did refer to a ‘monster bet’ he placed on Buffalo, and given Portnoy’s well-documented history as a gambler, the figure could be six figures.

‘Ref show in Philly,’ Portnoy wrote on social media before blaming his loss on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

‘Goodell took the Eagles. #nflrigged.’

Portnoy appeared to think the officials missed a horse collar tackle penalty by the Eagles on Josh Allen.

Ultimately Eagles kicker Jake Elliott sent the game into overtime with a tying 59-year-old field goal with 20 seconds remaining.

Somehow Portnoy believed that his wager resulted in Elliott’s kick splitting the uprights.

‘Unreal kick,’ Portnoy said. ‘If you tackle the guy instead of knock it down Bills win. Only reason that went in is cause I got a monster bet on the Bills. This game is over. Sorry Buffalo.’

The Eagles ultimately won in overtime on a touchdown run by quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Portnoy has been on a losing streak of late, and even threatened the NFL with a $120,000 lawsuit over allegations that the Bengals neglected to disclose injury information about quarterback Joe Burrow before a recent game.

Portnoy recently wagered $10,000 that up-and-down Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman would win the Heisman Trophy — another sure misfire.

Not only is Portnoy a self-described ‘degenerate gambler,’ but his own father once expressed concerns about his son’s issue during a podcast.

‘Anybody who says my son is exaggerating his gambling issues, I wish he was, but I don’t think he is,’ Mike Portnoy told Barstool Radio in 2019.

Most famously, four years ago, Portnoy wagered more than a half million dollars on a single day of college basketball action.
