Ed's danger as his gambling secret is revealed to debt collector in Corrie video

Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) has found himself struggling with his gambling addiction once more in recent Coronation Street scenes, and it will soon lead him to seriously hot water.

Having completed work on Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) flat, Ed was told that he would get his payment as soon as Paul’s disability grant came in. Though he told Paul that there was no rush, he was clearly concerned by the state of his own finances.

With his debts at an all time high, Ed resorted to using Norris’ stolen credit card, but even that was doing little to help him out of his mess.

After heading to the bookies and losing more money, Ed had no choice but to tell Tony, who had been working for him on Paul’s flat, that he couldn’t pay him, making out that there was an issue with their bank account.

A few days later, Ed promised Tony that he would get his money that day, but when Norris’ card was cancelled for suspected fraudulent activity, he was once again at a loss for what to do.

In a new spoiler video, Ed realises he must bite the bullet and come clean to Tony about what is going on.

Meeting him at the builder’s yard, Ed breaks the news that he can’t pay Tony, who is furious.

Ed makes it clear that he has reached the limit of his overdraft, but when he tries to prove his point by pulling what limited cash he has out of his wallet, the truth is revealed.

As a betting slip falls to the floor, Tony picks it up and realises that it is dated for that morning.

He is appalled that Ed has spent his hard earned money on the horses and can hardly control his temper.

As Ed admitted that he had a problem, he begged Tony not to tell Ronnie (Vinta Morgan), revealing how his gambling had hurt their family in the past.

Ed promised that he would be able to get the money within a few days, just as Ronnie arrived unexpectedly and asked what Tony was doing at the builder’s yard.

Will Tony keep quiet to help Ed, or could his secret be set to explode?
