Another gambling scandal involving Evander Kane?!

The NHL has said it would keep a close eye on gambling activities since Ottawa Senators free agent forward Shane Pinto was suspended 41 games for activities relating to sports wagering earlier this season.

When the news emerged, most fans thought of Edmonton Oilers’ Evander Kane, whose history with gambling and bankruptcy has made headlines more than once. Kane once claimed to have placed as many as 50 bets per day with illegal bookmakers when he was in the grip of his gambling addiction. You may recall how the winger filed for bankruptcy in January 2021, claiming a total of $26.8 million in debt. That’s despite having signed a $49 million deal with the San Jose Sharks just three years earlier. His contract was later terminated, and he finally ended up with the Oilers.

Kane was never banned though his estranged wife had accused him of betting on hockey and compromised games for gambling purposes.

This week, Anna Kane hinted at another possible gambling scandal involving her ex-husband. Anna has been quite active on Instagram lately, sharing many stories on her ongoing custody battle for their daughter Kesington. Earlier this month, she mocked the Edmonton Oilers and their terrible season start and added that Evander Kane never wanted to join the Oilers in the first place.

In a story on Wednesday night, Anna posted that her estranged husband still gambles and doesn’t pay when he loses, though Evander Kane claimed last year to be dealing with his gambling issues since his bankruptcy.

If you listen to the rumours in Edmonton and the ones shared by Anna Kane, it does not seem to be the case:

It is no secret that the feud between Anna and Evander Kane has been ugly. She once shared a video to her Instagram story that showed Kane pointing a “loaded” gun at her. There is also a claim from Evander Kane that Anna faked a pregnancy with their second child for months after getting an abortion in July — which she previously denied in legal documents filed before their hearing. A judge previously ruled that Anna will have professionally supervised visits with their daughter, pending her undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. However, according to Anna, she hasn’t been in touch with her daughter since.

However, if I were the NHL or the Oilers, I’d want to look into this right away to prevent another debacle with Evander Kane.
Just to be sure. No?
