A parliamentary committee looking at gambling harm has made more than 30 recommendations for reform including a call for a phased in ban on all forms of advertising for online gambling companies.
The industry says it’s an over-reach that will threaten sport on free to air TV and cut funding to sport integrity programs.
But anti-gambling campaigners and financial counsellors are urging the government to implement the ban as a matter of urgency.
