82-year-old woman, 2 others arrested in Mobile for running illegal gambling operation

Three women were arrested Tuesday after the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office raided a Mobile pool hall and found an illegal gambling operation going on.

According to the MCSO, a warrant was executed Tuesday at The Rear Pocket on Emogene Street after an anonymous tip was sent to the sheriff’s office website.

Deputies at the scene uncovered six “cherry pickers” gambling (slot) machines, U.S. currency form machines, and gambling records and notes. Also found were what investigators believe are illegal drugs behind the bar (Ecstasy) and under the sink in the women’s bathroom (cocaine).

The three women arrested and the charges against them are:

  • Grace Marie Willis, 82, charged with promoting gambling, possession of gambling devices and possession of gambling records.
  • Lisa Ann Carpenter, 60, charged with promoting gambling, possession of gambling devices and possession of gambling records.
  • Felicia Suzanne Pierce, 45, charged with promoting gambling.

All three women posted bond and were released from Mobile Metro Jail.
