MANILA, Philippines — A string of police operations led to the arrest of 37 suspects for illegal drugs and gambling in Quezon City.
In a statement on Friday, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III said that ten drug suspects were arrested for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Out of ten, four suspects — Ed Christopher Pama, 37, Ronald Jerick Aviles, 27, Erickson Tugagao, 36, and Marlon Antonio, 45 — were arrested on Thursday after yielding 3.5 grams of shabu worth P23,800 together with the buy-bust money, according to a report from the Batasan Police Station,
Three suspects — Jemerick Galang, 50, Danilo Garcia, 52, and Delailah Ramos, 47 — were later arrested at about 7:40 p.m. along Cambridge St. Cubao Police Station.

Confiscated from them were five grams of shabu valued at P34,000 and buy-bust money.
On Friday, officers from the Holy Spirit Police Station arrested three other suspects, Christian Jay Del Rosario, 21, Asherleex Aquino, 31, and Joshua Ayco, 36, at about 1:30 AM along Barangay Pasong Tamo. Police seized three grams of shabu worth P20,400 and buy-bust money.
Gambling suspects nabbed
Meanwhile, QCPD also announced the arrest of 19 suspects on Thursday for playing illegal card games violating the Anti-Gambling Law.
Out of 19, three suspects were nabbed at about 11:45 AM along Cabotage St. Brgy. Paltok, while three others were collared at about 5:10 PM in an alley at Sitio Maligaya, Brgy. Bahay Toro. Seven suspects were similarly arrested at about 12:10 AM in Brgy. Tatalon.
From Wednesday through Friday, police authorities also arrested six suspects for playing “cara y cruz” at Sitio San Roque, Brgy. Bagong Pag-asa.
Campaign vs. wanted persons
QCPD also confirmed that eight suspects under its “Campaign against Wanted Persons” were also arrested during the string of police operations.
The suspects will face complaints about their offenses while the courts of origin are notified about their arrest.
Torre lauded the efforts of his police officers, adding that the “QCPD will continue its intensified campaign against all forms of criminality to maintain peace and order in [the] city.”
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte likewise expressed gratitude for the commitment to the duty of the QCPD police officers.
“Ang matagumpay na pag-aresto sa mga suspek ay bunga ng patuloy na pagpapaigting ng magkatuwang na programa at polisiya ng ating lokal na pamahalaan at kapulisan para sa kaayusan at seguridad ng ating lungsod,” Belmonte said.
