3 Held for Killing Friend Winning in Gambling in Katni - Latest News | Bhopal News - Times of India

Bhopal: Three persons, accused of killing their friend, who was winning in gambling from them for the past few months, were arrested late on Saturday in Katni district. The trio even tried to burn the body in an attempt to conceal the crime.
A body, which was identified as of Rambhan Dahiya, 39, was found at 1:30 am on Jan 2, near Jukhedi along the Maihar canal.
Dahiya’s wife of had lodged a complaint at Kaimor police station on Jan 31 that her husband was missing since Jan 30 night. A case of missing person was registered at Kaimor police station.
“We started investigation, and the person with whom the deceased had talked last time over phone or with whom he was seen last time were among the suspects. It surfaced that the deceased used to gamble with accused Manu Gupta, 18, and Shivam Patel, 18, along with other minor on a regular basis. When they were rounded up on the basis of suspicion they admitted to have killed him”, Kaimor police station incharge, Sudesh Kumar Saman told TOI.
“They informed that Dahiya was winning in gambling with them for the past few months, they had lost around Rs 5-6 lakh during this period. On Jan 30 night too, they were near the canal and they sought money from Dahiya saying that he had been winning for past few months, this led to dispute, which turned ugly as the trio attacked him with a stone on his head leading to his death.
“After attacking Dahiya the trio got scared and tried to bury the body in an attempt to conceal crime, but they were not able to burn the body, only lower portion of the body got some burns. All the three have been arrested,” Saman said.
