21 booked for gambling on cards, cash articles worth over Rs 4.8 lakh seized | Nashik News - Times of India

NASHIK: The Nashik police booked 21 people who were gambling on cards in the Cidco area of the city on Tuesday and seized cash and articles worth over Rs 4.8 lakhs from them.
Senior officials of the Nashik police commissionerate informed that under the guidance of CP Sandeep Karnik a special squad has been formed at the commissionerate level to keep a check on illegal businesses in the city.
Constable Bhagwan Jadhav of the special squad on Tuesday received information that a gambling den was operational in the Datta Nagar, Chunchale area of the city.
Soon on confirming the information, the officials of the special squad prepared a team and raided the place of gambling in a shade made up of tins at the Gharkul Road, Ambedkar Nagar, Chunchale Shivar area and took action against the person operating the gambling den. Twenty other people who were gambling on cards were also booked and cash, cellphones and motorcycles all worth over Rs 4.8 lakh were seized in the raid.
Officials said that senior PI Pankaj Bhalerao, API Pravin Suryawanshi, API Hemant Nagre, API Kiran Raundal and others of the special squad raided the gambling den under the guidance of CP Sandeep Karnik, DCP Prashant Bacchav and ACP Sitaram Kolhe.
