Hubballi: City police continued their drive aginst gamblers on Wednesday and arrested 209 people in 37 cases. They also seized Rs 3.2 lakh, smartphones and other assets from the accused.
CCB police raided a place at Dharwad suburban station and Old Hubballi police station limits, arrested 23 people, and seized Rs 98,230 and assets in two different cases.
Under north sub-division limits in Hubballi: Four cases were registered in Vidyanagar police station, three each in Ashok Nagar and APMC Navanagar station, two each in Keshwapur and suburban station, one each in Gokul Road station and Kamaripet stations.
As many as 103 people were arrested in 16 cases, and Rs 1.1 lakh and some assets were seized.
In sub-division limits, one case each were registered in Kasabapet, Ghantikeri and Bendigeri stations. Thirteen people were arrested, and Rs 11,290 and some assets were seized from them.
In Dharwad sub-division, 11 cases were registered in suburban station, three in town police station, two in Vidyagiri station. As many as 70 people have been arrested, and Rs 1.1 lakh and some assets were seized.

A juvenile from Jaipur was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Guwahati Railway Station for his involvement in a gold smuggling racket. Around 500 grams of smuggled gold worth Rs 30 lakh were confiscated from him. The gold was hidden under his belt in three pieces of biscuits. The investigation is underway to determine the source of the gold and the extent of the smuggling network.
