20 nabbed in QCPD anti-illegal gambling ops

Twenty individuals have been arrested in the latest operations of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) against all forms of illegal gambling in the city.

Police identified the arrested as Edna Deodoco, 57; Marisa Abaredes, 41; Rosemary Vergara, 61; and Jovita Dalangin, 55, all residents of Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Quezon City; Mary Wiza Junie Mondres, 37; Rufaliza Ellorimo, 40; and Jujelyn Bolon, 58, all residents of Brgy. Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

Also apprehended were Jimmark Gomez Zulueta, 35, and Elmer Baco Pilayo, 32, both of Novaliches, Quezon City; Elizabeth Ybañez, 55; Janine Guarino, 19, and Jimmy Gayares, 65; Elizabeth Ybañez, 55; Janine Guarino, 19, and Jimmy Gayares, 65, all of Tatalon, Quezon City.

Police nabbed Joel Morsula, 39; Joel Celestial, 33, both residents of Brgy. Holy Spirit; Marvin Laxamana, 28, of Batasan Hills; Wencel Paolo Cabie Basbaño, 18, of Brgy. Bagong Pag-asa; John Carlo Sibala Gannaban, 24; and Charlie Ortojan Martinez, 46, both of Brgy. Bahay Toro, Quezon City.

The suspects were arrested for playing either “pusoy”, “tong-its”, or “cara y cruz”.

Confiscated from them were bet money and illegal gambling paraphernalia.

The suspects will be charged for violation of P.D. 1602 (illegal gambling) before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Police Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, meanwhile, assured the public that the QC police force will continue to intensify operations against all forms of illegal gambling in the city.
