ROORKEE: Two men were arrested on charges of killing a 23-year-old man in Uttarakhand‘s Makhiyali Khurd village under the jurisdiction of Laksar police on Sunday.
Police said that Shadab’s body was found late Friday evening. Allegedly, he was strangled to death by the accused, Gulsher and Raqib, following a dispute over gambling winnings in an under-construction building.
The victim’s family filed a complaint against four persons—Gulsher, Raqib, Ahatsham, and Gulzar—accusing them of involvement in the crime.
According to the police, Shadab informed his family that he was going to the mosque. However, he ended up engaging in gambling with Gulsher and Raqib. After winning around Rs 5,000, Shadab attempted to leave, leading to a confrontation with Gulsher and Raqib, who insisted on continuing the game. This disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, during which Raqib allegedly strangled Shadab with a shirt and hid his body amid construction materials in the building.
“Swapn Kishore Singh, SP (rural), said, “Gulsher and Raqib have been presented before a local court, and investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of Ahatsham and Gulzar in the incident.” Police also found Rs 3,200 in cash and a shirt reportedly used in the crime from the possession of the accused.
