CAMP BGEN. VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Police Regional Office-4A (PRO4A) reported on Wednesday, Sept. 7, that its conduct of regionwide One Time Big Time (OTBT) operations on Tuesday, Sept. 6, resulted in the arrest of 1,162 individuals who are mostly hooked in illegal gambling.
Region 4-A police director Brigadier General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said that the police units of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) conducted 496 operations overnight and were able to arrest individuals involved in illegal cockfighting and other illegal gambling including ‘cara y cruz,’ ‘pusoy,’ ‘tong-its,’ lucky 9, ‘mahjong,’ video karera, bookies, and other illegal numbers games.
A total of P290,873 worth of bet money was confiscated from the violators who were identified as operators, financiers, and bettors, Nartatez said.
He commended the PRO4A police for the exemplary effort of the police to ensure the successful arrest of these violators.
“We will not let these unlawful activities proliferate in order to protect our citizenry from these illegal acts, particularly our children now that face to face classes have opened,” said Nartatez.
“They have no place in this region and we will hold all of them accountable to the law,” he added.
PRO Calabarzon remains as the lead unit for having the most number of operations and arrests made among the organizations under the Philippine National Police.
