Eleven people were arrested by the Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) for allegedly gambling in Satellite’s Jodhpur village area of Ahmedabad on Thursday.

A total of Rs. 95,290  in cash, playing cards, and mobile phones were seized by the police. The accused were booked under various sections of the Prevention of Gambling Act.

According to an FIR lodged by the Ahmedabad DCB on Thursday evening, police got a message that a man named Ajit alias Lalo Thakor, 28, a resident of Satellite, gathered people and was gambling at his home in lieu of money for financial benefit.

When cops went to raid the apartment on the third floor, they heard noises coming from a flat. As they entered the flat, they saw 11 people sitting in a circle and playing cards and gambling, officials said.

Apart from Thakor, others who have booked are Suryakant Vohra (76), Harshad Thakor (52), Vikram Zala (42), among others, said officials.
